Clarington Martial Arts was founded by our Head Instructor, Karen Hillis, in 1997.

As a local competitive coach as well as a mother of five children, Coach Karen launched CMA with two goals: firstly – to create a positive training space, and secondly – to gather instructors from several complimentary disciplines to offer a well-rounded martial arts education.

20 years later,  Coaches Lesley Hillis and Geoff Kirkland, have taken over the Club and its operations, and converted CMA to a not-for-profit organization. Shortly thereafter the world was struck by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the Club has streamlined its program offerings and repositioned itself to focus on offering a high-quality Tae Kwon Do education, and the rejuvenation of our Competitive Team.

Our Student Creed

I will behave with courtesy, integrity and authenticity.

I will develop myself mentally and physically, and persevere when challenged.

I will inspire, move, and motivate those around me through my words and actions.

I will respect and seek the truth.

I will honour my word.
